Mock Trial
Advisor: Mr. Mark Baker
The RHS mock trial program allows students to participate in replications of actual trials. Any student who has been grounded in basic law and courtroom procedure by taking Mock Trial class is eligible for membership on the Mock Trial team. In October, the members are organized into a team for competition for state and potentially national competitions. Competition centers around a hypothetical case written by the competition organizers. These competition organizers are the Ohio Center for Law Related Education. The cases presented hypothetical but reflect current issues and debates being adjudicated by the courts in Ohio and can reflect issues of national concern. With the help of two local attorneys, acting as legal advisers, students play the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and a bailiff in the courtroom. Students compete at least once at the local level and have the potential to move to the national level. RHS students have competed in regional competitions in Columbus since this program was instituted. Win or lose this is an excellent learning experience for all participants. Mock Trial has helped produce several lawyers and inspired students to enroll in law school.

The Mock Trial team competed Friday February 5, 2010 at the Zanesville Courthouse. There were 9 teams that participated in this competition. Judge Hooper is the District Coordinator for the Mock Trial Competition. The Rosecrans Mock Trial Team represented our school with class and distinction.
Congratulations for a job well done in this competition!
